Murobushi Ko, a világ legismertebb és legelismertebb butoh mestere 2015. június 18-án hunyt el Mexikóban.
A vetítéssel tisztelgünk a mester előtt, aki festői tájakon, a hétköznapi élet színterein és saját személyes tereiben felbukkanva osztja meg velünk gondolatait a létezésről, a halálról, az emberről és ösztönökről.
Murobushi Ko-t Japánban a Tatsumi Hijikata-féle butoh örökség legautentikusabb képviselőjeként tartják számon. 1968-tól tanult Hijikata mesternél, majd a táncot feladva Yamabushi hegyi szerzetesként vonult el a világtól.
Visszatérve megalapította a Dairakudakan butoh csoportot Ushio Amagatsu, Akaji Maro és más mesterekkel. 1974-ben Ariadone néven Carlotta Ikedaval nőkből álló társulatot, majd 2 évvel később Sebi néven kizárólag férfiakból álló együttest alapított. A két csoport közös produkciójának turnéja ismertette meg a butoh-t Európával.
Fáradhatatlanul dolgozott világszerte a műfajban rejlő lehetőségek kiaknázásán, úgy, hogy közben nyitott maradt az őt körülvevő világból érkező hatásokra.

Murobushi Ko, the best known and acclaimed butoh artists in the world, has passed away on the 18 June 2015 in Mexico.
The screening is an hommage to the master, whom we follow on beautiful landscapes, places of daily life and his private space. He is sharing his thought on life and death, human being and instincts.
Ko Murobushi is recognized in Japan as a leading inheritor of Tatsumi Hijikata’s original vision of butoh. He studied with Hijikata, briefly ‘giving up’ dance to become a “Yamabushi” mountain monk, back into society he founded the butoh group DAIRAKUDAKAN together with Ushio Amagatsu, Akaji Maro and others. 1974 he created the butoh magazine “Hageshii Kisetsu” (Violent Season) and founded a female butoh company “ARIADONE” with Carlotta Ikeda, and for which he did many choreographies. 2 years later he founded a similar only-male butoh group: SEBI. With a touring co-production of these two groups he introduced butoh to Europe.
Being at any part of the world, he was challenging to reach new possibilities of butoh, and to remain open to influences coming from his surroundings.
